ABBA Success Signals Maynard Revival

The second successive event at The Maynard has proved to be oversubscribed and a roaring success, despite all the bad news about the economy.

November 26, 2008 (FPRC) -- This time it was ABBA Revival, the local Chesterfield band who played to a sell out crowd of diners in The Maynard’s ballroom on Saturday night. The Scanda-Derbyshire quartet thrilled a packed house with every imaginable ABBA hit, including Waterloo, Mamma Mia, Dancing Queen, and Super Trouper. Guests enjoyed a restaurant quality meal followed by ABBA Revival’s live performance, after which they danced the night away until the small hours.

Paul Downing, director for The Maynard, said: 'We have always believed we have a winning formula at The Maynard and the last two events we have held suggest there is a real future in these types of evening. Our wine tasting with John Hattersley was oversubscribed, as was this ABBA event which we could have easily sold twice over.

'Apart from the location and the brilliant venue we have here, we are now starting to get recognition for our food and service, which is one of the reasons these events are proving such a success. When we welcome people for any occasion at The Maynard, we endeavour to keep the quality of the food and service up to standard, whether it be a wedding, business meeting or one of these cabaret type evenings.'

The Maynard’s December traditional brass band evenings are also nearly sold out. Call for details of last few remaining tickets. 6 December is Rolling Stones night at The Maynard. The Stoned Angels to be precise. With a sound and a look that is scarily close to the real thing, The Stoned Angels won’t disappoint any Mick Jagger fans.
